Si le Blues est la musique de toute une vie, alors on ne peut que se réjouir de la parution de ce Double CD (studio + live) célébrant les 25 premières années de la carrière de Fred Chapellier ! Car cela signifie « juste » que cette compilation n’est qu’une étape dans un cheminement qui nous réservera beaucoup d’autres opportunités de louer le talent hors-normes de cet artiste attachant en diable !

Les 32 titres de ce Double CD (18 en version Studio – 14 en version Live) en sont la preuve éclatante. Car si le Blues reste le fil rouge de l’ouvrage, la soul n’est jamais loin (le sublime « Sweet Soul Music »). Et ce n’est d’ailleurs pas complètement fortuit s’il a choisi d’ouvrir la partie Studio de cette compilation par une impeccable reprise de « Ain’t No Love In The Heart of the City » de Bobby « Blue » Bland, considéré comme l’un des « inventeurs » du soul blues. Et comme un bonheur n’arrive jamais seul, tout cela étant agrémenté de deux inédits pétillants, « I’m A Ram » pour la partie Live et « Beyond The Moon – Part II » pour la partie studio.

If the Blues is the music of a lifetime, then we can only rejoice at the release of this Double CD (studio + live) celebrating the first 25 years of Fred Chapellier’s career ! Because it means “just” that this compilation is only one step in a journey that will give us many other opportunities to praise the extraordinary talent of this devilishly endearing artist !

The 32 titles of this Double CD (18 in Studio version – 14 in Live version) are the striking proof of this. Because if the Blues remains the common thread of the book, soul is never far away (the sublime “Sweet Soul Music”). And it is not completely fortuitous if he chose to open the Studio part of this compilation with an impeccable cover of “Ain’t No Love In The Heart of the City” by Bobby “Blue” Bland, considered to be one of the “inventors” of soul blues. And how happiness never comes alone, all this being complemented by two sparkling new releases, “I’m A Ram” for the Live part and “Beyond The Moon – Part II” for the studio part.
